What is a Motorcycle License and Who Can Get One

Training Provided for Motorcycle License

License classes A, A1, A2, and M cover two, three, and four-wheeled motor vehicles on public roads. To operate these vehicles, one must pass the driving test organized by the MEB (Ministry of National Education) and obtain a motorcycle license.

How is the Motorcycle Test Conducted

Candidates who wish to obtain a motorcycle license receive the necessary theoretical and practical training at a driving school. Candidates who do not possess any prior license are given first aid lessons in addition to traffic training. Candidates who wish to upgrade their existing license class can opt for only driving training if they wish. The lesson hours provided at driving schools are organized according to the principles determined by the MEB. The training hours at driving schools operating under the Ministry are also determined within the framework of the regulations. Manual and automatic transmission motorcycles are used in the driving training provided to candidates for a motorcycle license. Motorcycle tests, like other driving tests, are conducted in two parts: theoretical and practical. The theoretical test is conducted electronically or in writing on a date and time determined by the MEB. The practical test is also conducted practically on a designated route and date. The driving test consists of two parts: a special course and traffic. On the special course, driver candidates perform the movements and maneuvers requested by the examiners. Candidates who are successful in the special course stage ride motorcycles in traffic flow. Those who are successful are entitled to receive a license.
