Is Turkey Reducing Tourism Demands?
The tourism sector in Turkey has been quite stagnant for the last 2 years. We can say that the tension, which started particularly with the Gezi protests, reflected negatively on the country. Political problems experienced with foreign countries have also been an important factor in this decrease in demand. Actually, these are not the only reasons for this decrease. These disruptions in the tourism sector in our country, which has been experiencing quite tense days, have also negatively affected the country's economy.
Tourism Sector in Turkey
Turkey has made significant progress in the tourism sector in the last 20 years. The number of facilities opened by SMEs, as well as large and boutique hotels, has also increased considerably. Our country, which attracts tourists from all over the world with its historical and touristic sites, has received considerable economic support from the liveliness of the tourism sector. However, for the last 2 years, all SMEs have been talking about the decline and decreases in the tourism sector, stating that this is bad not only for themselves but also for the country.
